This track is called “Foots” and it actually featured two drummers: Steve Gadd and Chris Parker (who played in the SNL house band for six years!) I’m trying to play both parts at once, hence all the cross-overs to the ride . I put some clothes and towels on my drums to get that funky and compressed drum sound of the 1970s.
