Temple Field Hockey went into its game against Lehigh on Sunday with its position in the Big East tournament locked up. The Owls’ Senior Day gave them a chance to build momentum before the Big East Tournament. Through the first 29 minutes, Temple was unable to convert its numerous offensive chances.
With 30 seconds left in the first half, midfielder Devin Kinzel tapped in a goal to give the Owls the lead heading into the half. Back Alizé Maes added another goal early in the fourth quarter to double Temple’s lead. The Owls defense was unbreakable, holding Lehigh to just one shot as Temple picked up a 2-0 win.
“I think the priority was effort, playing well and playing together,” said Temple head coach Michelle Vittese. “There was a lot of emotions for senior day but the biggest opportunity today was just to go out and perform with sights on next week and put together a performance we are proud of.”
