After being picked eighth in the preseason coaches poll, Temple Women’s Basketball kicks off the American American Conference tournament Monday with a quarterfinal matchup as the No. 4 seed.
The Owls closed out the regular season on a six-game winning streak, but the entire season didn’t play out as smoothly. They lost multiple games where they held double-digit leads and went 0-4 against the top three teams in the conference.
Head coach Diane Richardson’s “equal opportunity offense” has proved to be successful and has been especially beneficial when guard Tiarra East, who is Temple’s leading scorer, struggled offensively. East, along with other key players, will need to perform at their highest level in the AAC tournament to achieve the Owls’ hopes of getting its first NCAA Tournament bid since the 2016-17 season.
Temple will face either Tulsa or the winner of Florida Atlantic and Charlotte in the quarterfinals on March 10 at 3 p.m. Follow along on @ttn.sports for coverage through...
