As the nation reflects on 250 years of history, it's also worth remembering the people whose labor, leadership, resilience and advocacy helped shape the country we know today. Indigenous peoples stewarded this land long before 1776. Enslaved Black Americans built much of the nation's early economy while being denied its promises. Immigrant communities strengthened industries, enriched our culture and helped communities thrive. Generations of advocates expanded civil rights, voting rights and economic opportunity, making the country stronger for everyone.
This month, we're highlighting the communities and movements that helped build America and continue to shape its future. America's story is bigger than a single moment, a single movement or a single community.
