A rice sieve, scaled to a city. SIFT transforms the chalanee, the humble rice sieve found in nearly every Indian household, into a multisensory pavilion shaped by the energy and density of Mumbai. Concentric layers of woven bamboo sieves draw visitors inward along a spiral, filtering light and shadow as they move. At the center, a soundscape by Malloy James (malloyjamesofficial), inspired by the swish of the sieve in motion, holds a space for reflection within the pace of the city.
