The most ambitious move at our Sea Ranch home was also the most restrained: to let the ocean lead.
Perched unusually close to the cliffs, this house was reimagined from the inside out. Swapping the original bedroom and living room brought the main gathering space directly along the Pacific, its sightlines open to the ocean, rocks, and sky.
A two-sided fireplace gives the room its center of gravity, while the existing wood ceiling and walls of glass keep the landscape as the focus. Nothing competes with the horizon.
