Cherokee Residence | Built on a steeply sloping site, this residence exemplifies a harmonious blend of prefab and site-built methodologies, encapsulating midcentury-modern principles while embracing the natural topography.
The design blurs the boundary between exterior and interior spaces with a courtyard and decks while maintaining a sense of privacy behind high exterior wood cladded walls and clerestory windows.
Sustainability is woven into the fabric of the design, incorporating passive cooling, solar integration, and water conservation techniques alongside the preservation of native flora. The structure’s horizontality is accentuated by overhangs that provide shade, with materials like cedar and glass ensuring durability and simplicity.
Inside, the design uses soft textures, classic rugs, and innovative materials such as cast paper walls to create a natural feel inside that connects to the views into the canyons.
