2023 Year in Review: Look Here at the National Building Museum | In July, “Look Here,” our installation in the Great Hall at the NationalBuildingMuseum in DC, opened to the public. With this monumental work, Suchi Reddy became the sixth designer, and the first BIPOC woman, to produce the museum’s signature Summer Block Party annual exhibition. Within, Reddy paired mirrors that were shaped like origami fortune tellers with kaleidoscopic forms and historic images of activism.
“To me the world is magical. Physics is magical. Architecture is magical. If you break down the word magic, it reads as something that provides you with the feelings of wonder, discovery, awe and delight, all in ways that are unexpected. That was what I wanted to accomplish with this installation,” Reddy shared.
