I approach design from an emotional and psychological perspective. I look to evoke feelings based on either memories experienced or to be made. Through both rug designs for the Ruggable x Architectural Digest collection, I was able to tap into nostalgia to communicate a future! With La Joie, I tell a story of ancestral joy experienced through love of nature, music and movement. When I hear my dad play (his guitar) I hear and feel the connection to the joy generations before us got to experience through the joy with which he plays each note today💫 And with Nerissa, I draw from my memory as an exchange student and my mom telling me to look up at the moon when I’m missing her, and know that we were connected still because we were staring at the same celestial body together.
