There’s a new guy on the field—and his name is Joe Fielder. Formerly the head coach for Chatham High School’s football program in Pittsylvania County, Fielder recently accepted the head football coach position at Martinsville High School in Martinsville.
We love highlighting big accomplishments like this, so we chose to share this special achievement as this week’s
#ThisIsVirginia shoutout.
During his time at Chatham, Fielder doubled the school’s number of football players, restarted the JV program (dormant since 2019), helped the team to its best statistical team scoring defense since 2007, and led the team to a 5-5 record.
Now, he’s looking to build on the success the Martinsville Bulldogs have experienced.
