The pain of falling just short in Germany 2011 was finally exorcised with an emphatic trophy lift in 2015 and a cruising victory lap in 2019. Looking back, those two summers propelled the sport in ways we could’ve never imagined. Years later, here we are again. Our childhood stars just a little bit older, but with the hunger to close out their international careers with one final gift to us all. Alex Morgan, Rapinoe, O’Hara, Ertz — names synonymous with WoSo in this country. The new generation is ready to step up too and earn their own stripes.
