The Final Chapter. The quest for the three-peat is here. A month of grueling effort ahead to cap what has surely been the golden age of women’s soccer in this country. The pain of falling just short in Germany 2011 was finally exorcised with an emphatic trophy lift in 2015 and a cruising victory lap in 2019. Looking back, those two summers propelled the sport in ways we could’ve never imagined. Years later, here we are again. Our childhood stars just a little bit older, but with the hunger to close out their international careers with one final gift to us all. Alex Morgan, Rapinoe, O’Hara, Ertz — names synonymous with WoSo in this country. The new generation is ready to step up too and earn their own stripes. Girma, Thompson, Rodman, Sanchez —the passing of the torch has never been clearer. The hopes for a third star since 2015 are high, but above all else, we’re just thankful to have a squad like this one.
