It’s summertime, and the living is noisy up and down Woodward Avenue.
Tim Nutting struggles to find peace and quiet at his Royal Oak home in a subdivision at Normandy and Woodward, as cars, trucks and motorcycles roar by on the eight-lane state highway, especially on weekend nights.
Nutting and a few hundred of his fellow members of C.A.L.M. (Citizens Against Loud Mufflers), as well as perhaps hundreds or even thousands of residents living in the 11 cities Woodward traverses, are seeking relief.
They may get it, as state Rep. Jason Hoskins, D-Southfield, and state Rep. Natalie Price, D-Berkley, rev up a second attempt to enact new bipartisan legislation regarding modified exhaust systems.
