Glitz and glamour were on the agenda in downtown Detroit Friday night as Mayor Mary Sheffield capped off a busy day of festivities to mark her historic rise to mayor with an inaugural ball at a riverfront venue.
The ball, held at The Icon on Walker Street, was a private event to benefit the Homeless Action Network of Detroit. Sheffield officials said no taxpayer, transition or campaign funds were used to pay for the ball.
The event drew more than 400 attendees, including Sheffield's father, the Rev. Horace Sheffield, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Dearborn Heights Mayor Mo Baydoun, and others. Link in bio for more.
