Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan on Thursday detailed a number of changes the city plans to implement to improve its homeless services in the aftermath of two children's deaths, including expanding the operating hours of the city's homeless hotline to 24-hours and doing more thorough outreach.
The changes, unveiled during a press conference at police headquarters, follow the Feb. 10 deaths of 9-year-old Darnell Currie, Jr. and his 2-year-old sister, A'Millah Currie, after they slept in a van in a casino parking structure as temperatures dipped below freezing.
