An upcoming book by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson criticizes Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan for his initial work against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's campaign for the state's top office in 2018, according to a draft reviewed by The Detroit News. The text could point to a potential line of attack in the 2026 race for governor, in which Benson is running as a Democrat and Duggan, a former Democrat, is running as an independent. Benson's book "The Purposeful Warrior" will be released on May 6 by the publishing imprint The Open Field.
