I’m doing Dry January for the first time. I’m actually someone that scoffs at Dry January, but I felt like now was the right time for me. Why? Because I couldn’t remember when I didn’t have a drink for an extended period of time. Alcohol has been a big part of my life since I went to college, which was two days after my 18th birthday. New found freedom and parties go hand in hand with drinking socially. While my taste and consumption level have matured over the years, I really started thinking about just how much alcohol has been part of my life. I learned alcohol was a part of the culture in advertising at my first agency job in 2011, and every agency following. It was always around, either in the office or at a happy hour.
