A common misconception about facelift surgery is that skin is removed from the incision underneath the chin. In reality, that tiny incision is only an access point to tighten the platysma muscles and contour the deeper neck structures. All of the skin removal in a facelift actually happens around the ears. Once the deeper tissues of the face and neck are lifted and repositioned, the skin is gently redraped upward and backward in a natural direction. The excess skin that results from that repositioning is then carefully trimmed around the ear incisions, where it can be hidden along the natural contours of the ear and hairline. That small incision under the chin plays an important role, but it is not where the skin removal happens. Dr. Novis is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Patients travel from across the country for her signature CURRENT Lift technique. For more information: (843) 371-1610 info@currentfacialplasticsurgery.com current...
