Did you know that the U.S. is officially the world’s largest exporter of liquefied “natural” gas (LNG) or “methane gas?” This boom is being driven by companies like VentureGlobal, Cheniere, SempraEnergy, NextDecade, ExxonMobil, and more. ⁣ ⁣ LNG is the biggest greenwashing scheme on the planet. Gas companies push the narrative that methane gas is “natural” and “clean” when, in fact, its full lifecycle emissions are almost as harmful as coal! The process of extracting oil & gas (including methane gas) can cause local air and water pollution that could lead to increased rates of cancer, respiratory illness, and heart disease in nearby communities, many of which are Black, Brown, Indigenous, or poor communities.
