It’s been exactly one year since Jake Wightman 🇬🇧 pulled off one of the greatest distance running upsets at a World Championship meet, as he stormed to his first World Championship title in the Men’s 1500m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on July 19, 2022. Wightman took down reigning 1500m Olympic Champion, Jakob Ingebrigtsen 🇳🇴 in the process, as beat the Norwegian by 0.24 seconds, 3:29.23 to 3:29.47, respectively. To make the moment even more special for the Scotland native, Wightman’s father and coach, Geoff Wightman, was announcing the race over the stadium loudspeakers and witnessed his son execute the race of a life time to bring home the 2nd ever World Championship 1500m Men’s title back to Great Britain, with Steve Cram being the first to do so back in 1983 at Helsinki 🇫🇮 What a win it was for Jake Wightman! 📸: top4running
