McCreary is not affiliated with campus, according to UCPD.
“UCPD first learned of the skeletal remains in January 2023 and immediately responded to the scene at that time,” UCPD said in a statement.
McCreary’s remains were discovered in a brick building near the parking lot of the Clark Kerr Campus, which has been unoccupied since 1979. It was part of the California School for the Blind, built in 1928, and was unused for three years when the University of California acquired the Clark Kerr Campus. According to UCPD, the building is being used by campus as storage space.
According to a UCPD statement, McCreary died years ago. His death has been ruled a homicide after analysis by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office due to the condition of the bones, UCPD added.
“Forensic and other evidence indicates the death occurred many years ago,” UCPD said.
