69 years ago the very first television station in Colorado signed on the air. KFEL-TV Channel 2 (now known as @kwgnchannel2) signed on the air on July 18, 1952 and quickly became known for its local programming -- including “Blinky’s Fun Club” featuring “Blinky the Clown” which I watched as a kid in the 1980s and aired on Channel 2 from 1966 to 1998.
Over the years, Channel 2 eventually became the first station in Denver to broadcast a live newscast, the first to broadcast from a remote location, the first to broadcast in color, and became the first television home of the Colorado Rockies when the team started in 1993.
