Walking up the mcgaffincarillon to it’s 47-bell carillon transports you back in time. Within the stone walls and walking up that spiral ladder, a century slips back to 1911 when the Church of the Covenant was built. Only the occasional desk or stack of file cabinets remind you you’re in the 21st Century.  🔔   At the top, the tower offers a wide view of University Heights directly in front of University Hospital Main Campus. The McGaffin’s bells can still be heard roughly a half-mile away from where you’re standing.   Carillonneur George Leggiero and Friends of McGaffin Carillon — formed in 2015 — have challenged themselves to raise awareness for the historic instrument and a sum of more than $600,000 to fund its restoration.
