1st Runner up & the Miss Photogenic Award at Miss Delaware USA! #portiaandscarlett - My on-stage question asked “if you could have an unlimited amount of anything, what would it be?” to which I answered, “inclusivity,” and spoke on my journey as an LGBTQ+ woman and advocate. I feel like this perfectly describes why I even got into pageantry in the first place, especially later in life. As much as I’d love to tell you this inspirational story about how I was a natural and started this journey so effortlessly, that could not be further from the truth. Pageantry was something that just did not come easily to me AT ALL at first, but my determination to embody the representation I didn’t see fueled many YEARS and HOURS of hard work and consistency. Looking back, it feels so rewarding on how far I’ve come, and I will forever continue to advocate for inclusion.
