The Universal Studio Tour has been an integral part of Universal Studios Hollywood since 1915, when visitors paid 25 cents to sit on bleachers and watch filmmaking take place. Over the years, it transformed from the pink and white GlamorTrams introduced in 1964 into the sophisticated and technologically advanced experience it offers today, granting a behind-the-scenes view of a real working movie and television studio. Initially, from 1964 to 1977, the tram provided access to all Universal attractions. However, in 1977, with the addition of the Screen Test Comedy Theater and the Animal Actors stage, the Upper Lot (Entertainment Center) became a standalone attraction. The first Universal Studio Tour opened on June 17th, 1964 (the official and widely reported date is July 15, 1964).
