🇧🇫 Continuing with our mid-year debrief, this year has been a pivotal year for our community farm in Burkina Faso. 🌾 Our goal has always been to improve food security by developing a farm where local farmers have the opportunity to "own" a parcel of land that they can sustainably cultivate and harvest throughout the year, not relying on increasingly inconsistent rainy seasons alone. And during the first half of the year, we took a giant step forward on year-round irrigation! 💧 We have completed the construction of 9 irrigation 'catchments' distributed around the 45,000 square meter farm that farmers can conveniently and continuously access to ensure their crops have adequate hydration. 🍅 We have been testing this solar-powered irrigation system for the past few months, and happy to report that our farmers are well on their way to producing their first batch of maize, beans, eggplant, onions, peppers, and tomatoes using this new model! 💲 This, along with some modifications ...
