The ability to react is a neurophysical skill that can be trained and allows athletes to maximize deceptiveness for offensive moves, react quickly in defensive situations and shift gears quickly and efficiently.
At TWIST we integrate decision-making and reaction skills into drill situations through a variety of coaching methods. Initially, the movements in drills like these are done slowly to encourage excellent movement skill patterning, progressively building to a pace that mimics sport situations and challenges the athlete to train at game speed.
The ATO (Around, Through & Over) Drill will help athletes develop lateral power, first-step quickness and agility with lateral movement forwards and backwards as well as crossover movement skills.
