Arlington National Cemetery, the resting place of almost 400,000 members of the Armed Forces, was closed for cleanup for four days this week after severe storms on Sunday afternoon. Downed trees and limbs blocked roads around the cemetery, leaving some headstones damaged. The cemetery’s biggest concern was limbs that were damaged in the storm but had not yet fallen. The cemetery opened for scheduled funerals starting Monday, but remained closed to visitors and pass holders until Thursday.
