We already knew that Portland has a great pizza scene. This year, we learned that new pizzerias continue to innovate, whether that’s by dialing in creative-yet-faithful recipes for Detroit-style pizza at Crust Collective, or treating dough as a pedestal for seasonal fruits and vegetables at No Saint, much as they did in old Pompeii. After attempting to visit every new pizza spot to open since our survey of Portland’s glut of post-pandemic pizzeria published early last year, we’ve narrowed down a list of five great new Portland-area pizzerias to celebrate, including one each in Vancouver and Beaverton. The current class includes some world-class brewpub pizza, toppings inspired by ingredients in Mexico and Hawaii, a mostly traditional Neapolitan pizzeria and more.
