Photographer Todd Ostrem, of Long Beach, Wash., captured stunning photos of the sturgeon supermoon rising over Astoria Aug. 1, 2023. Ostrem took the photos from Ilwaco, Wash., across the Columbia River, about 20 miles away. He used a 900 mm super telephoto lens. There will be a second supermoon on Aug. 30, rising at 8:11 p.m. It’ll rise on the east-southeast horizon. Click our bio to learn more about it and supermoons in general.
