In what has been a much-discussed project, today we got our first look at the new plans for the 1700 Central Avenue development. An application submitted today shows a 19-story mixed-use apartment building that will house 308 apartments and nearly 10,000 square feet of ground level retail space facing Central Avenue. The development will serve as a welcome sign of sorts for the Grand Central District, located on the eastern end of the celebrated corridor. Stretching from Central Avenue to 1st Avenue South, the development totals 350,000 square feet. Plans also include a below-ground parking garage. The application submitted today is a change from the previously-approved plans, and this newer version has scaled down the footprint of the project.
