🔥WAIT 🔥 _itstoxic__ Heat Conduction.or lack thereof. Despite being great fuel for fire, Wood is not a good conductor of Thermal Energy. Here a MAPP Gas Torch with a flame temperature of up to 3,600F is held at bay by 1/2” plywood. The valence electrons in the atoms and molecules of wood are tied up in chemical bonds. In metals however the valence electrons are said to be ‘free’ and this makes metals good conductors of thermal energy. Free valence electrons are also why metals are good conductors of electricity and why wood is not. This demonstration is a good visual of why we close doors to ‘Isolate’ in a ‘Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search’ operation • • • #Firefighters #Hazmat #Philadelphia #Training #Fireservice #Firedept #Firefighterlife #hazmattraining
