From ChatGPT to cloud computing, technology is transforming the way we manage projects. “Project leaders are expected to be more tech-savvy nowadays,” says Niral Rajani, project manager at gaming company Aristocrat in Sydney. Take artificial intelligence: 35% of companies report using it in their business, and an additional 42% say they’re exploring the tech, per IBM. Rajani, for example, is using machine learning to help with tasks like forecasting risk. His advice? “Stay informed and be proactive,” he says. And don’t be afraid to try out things. “Be open to experimentation. Encourage your team to experiment. Explore new approaches and new tools.” Investigating your options is just the first bit. Once you pick a tool, you’ll need to: plan how you’ll integrate it into workflows, train the team on how to use it, run a proof of concept— and then keep evaluating it to ensure it’s still delivering.
