St. Ambrose University is the first campus in Iowa to join Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR). Established in 2015, @everycampusarefuge collaborates with American colleges and universities in conjunction with local refugee resettlement agencies, functioning as co-sponsors to provide campus housing for displaced individuals. “A campus is organically well-suited to be a physical place of refuge in times of crisis,” Diya Adbo, PhD, founder of ECAR, said. “We have housing, cafeterias, clinics, and plenty of human resources and connections to provide financial, social, and cultural support." As SAU prepares for a family's arrival this fall, the university has been actively forging meaningful partnerships throughout the community to provide aid and resources, including @oneeightyzone, @tapestryfarms @humble_dwellings, @humilityhomesandservices and @johndeere.
