Tampa Bay loves back-to-back wins; Sam Burns joined that club Sunday when he took home the Valspar Championship for the second year in a row.
“I don’t think it’s really hit me yet,” he said, “Such a cool day, and to be able to go back-to-back feels really good. I’m just really excited.”
The victory over fellow 25-year-old Davis Riley, who led going into the final day, moves Burns to the No. 10 golfer in the world.
Among the sizable crowd in Palm Harbor? Lightning forward Alex Killorn and Mathieu Joseph. It was Joseph's first PGA tournament. Hours later, the team traded him to the Ottawa Senators.
