We’re thrilled to introduce our latest #FacesofFreeman, Joey Perkins! Joey has been with the #FreemanFamily for the past two and a half years and is the Assembly Lead. Hear more from Joey about his role! “I was born and raised here in Charleston, and with my time at Freeman Boatworks, we have really worked hard at making our processes more productive. We have cut our assembly time down for one boat by 50% in just two years. In my department, we ensure that everything fits correctly - the hull, cap, liner, spacing for doors, furniture and more. I will say my favorite part about my job is fitting the furniture. Leveling it, grinding it and setting it in is so satisfying. Our step of the boat building process is so critical too, because everything after assembly can usually be re-done. We are making boats for a lifetime, and that’s not something I take lightly!
