Light pollution is a very real problem. It can destroy natural habitats and endangered species who rely on the true cover of night. For those who travel for the thrill of an unpolluted night sky, it can also make stargazing difficult. This is where DarkSky International comes in.
It’s an organization that protects communities from the harmful effects of light pollution through outreach, advocacy, and conservation. This year, they doled out their first resort certification to Under The Canvas Lake Powell, a hotel in Utah that features safari-inspired, luxury tent accommodations, some of which are designed specifically for stargazing.
