Portland photographer Jay Shah visited the Peter Iredale Shipwreck at Fort Stevens State Park along the northwest Oregon coast Saturday night to capture the Persied meteor shower during its peak. His images from the shower caught shooting stars, the Milky Way, glowing bioluminescence and a ship on the horizon that looks like the sunset.
Shah emphasizes that he only shoots single long exposure shots. He also said that bioluminescence sparkled all around his boots the night he got the images.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is currently forecasting clear or mostly clear skies over Oregon for the meteor shower’s peak tonight.
