Today we were all inspired by 14-year-old Jacob Downing from Westminster, MA, whom we honored as part of UMass Memorial’s “Home Run for Life” program. Jacob has a complex congenital heart disease, and in 2015, he sustained a stroke, resulting in right-sided hemiparalysis. A huge baseball fan, Jacob asked his parents for a mitt one day, and he taught himself how to catch AND throw using one arm—his left arm. Jacob, don’t you ever quit.
