Corey's Statement: "My paintings are informed by climate change, surfing, and sitting Zen. I started surfing when I moved down to the San Diego area to pursue my dreams of operating my own tattoo business. I began practicing Zen meditation during the early months of COVID as a way to retain mental strength and to continue to grow spiritually. For me, tattooing is a spiritual practice, marking the body is a sacred act and I practice my tattooing as Tamara Santibañez writes in her work on the subject in, "Could this be magic?
