Tampa residents called for Florida’s state government to take steps in preventing future ecological disasters while they lamented the deadly toll of the Red Tide outbreak in Tampa Bay. “The ocean connects us all, right?” said Ali Cammisa, 26, at a speech outside City Hall. “Emotionally, geographically, financially, literally in every way. And we have to stand up for it, and we have to do what’s right.” The group of about 50 people then marched down the Riverwalk and to Armature Works. “Save the bay!” they chanted. Gov. Ron DeSantis has faced criticism for refusing to call a state of emergency. So far, the disaster has piled up more on Pinellas County’s shores, particularly in St. Pete, and not as much in Tampa and Hillsborough County. Read more about Sunday’s rally at the link in our bio. ✍️: Matthew Griffin & 📷: @abaderphoto / Tampa Bay Times
