While famous for speed, pronghorn fawns may spend as much as 90% of their time alone, lying still on the prairie. Pronghorn does will seek out their hiding fawns every 4-6 hours to nurse/feed them. For the first 2-3 weeks of life, a fawn's best survival strategy is to hide. Once they are about a month old, they are better equipped to escape predators by running. We’re partnering with Oklahoma State University, East Central University, and Texas A&M Kingsville for a 4.5-year project focusing on population metrics such as fawn survival, reproduction, and predation. Researchers fitted pronghorn fawns with adjustable radio collars (that are connected to their mothers) to learn more about the survival and movement of Oklahoma's pronghorn population in Cimarron and Texas counties. #oklahoma #run #wildlife #funny #trend #outdoors #conservation #animals #baby #pronghorn #nature #texas
