Lifelong Children's patient Easton has had a long medical journey with more than 30 surgeries and procedures. Born with very rare congenital anomalies, a tiny bladder and kidneys that were not functioning properly, Easton needed surgery on the first day of his life. After dialysis and a diagnosis of stage five kidney failure, Easton eventually received a life-saving kidney transplant when his father, Brendan, was identified as a match. Now, eight years later, 10-year-old Easton has entered fourth grade and continues to receive vital care at Children's. “So many people think that once you have a transplant you are cured, but that isn't true," said Easton's mom, Danielle. "He still has his struggles. He goes in monthly — sometimes more — for his lab workup to keep a close eye on his kidney and other important numbers. Overall, he looks amazing, and he's thriving."
