In the studio tour guide book maps, the initial Denver Street on the Universal backlot was named Medicine Bow Wyoming. It was constructed by Revue Studios shortly after MCA acquired the Universal Property in 1959. When the studio tour opened in 1964, three western streets were present: Six Points Texas, Denver Street, and Laramie Street. Medicine Bow Wyoming derived its name from the TV show "The Virginian" and was positioned east of the Tower of London set. Denver Street, in its current form, was built around 1967 after a destructive fire. The street has undergone relocation twice since its original construction due to the ever-changing nature of the working studio. Notably, the area that now features Denver Street and Park Lake did not exist during the time of early silent Westerns as sometimes claimed.
