One community college in the Southwest region offers its students more than a quality education. Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) in Martinsville helps ensure that each student has access to everyday necessities—free of charge. That’s why we highlighted the program as our weekly #ThisIsVirginia feature. The Patriot Pantry started in 2016 and runs solely off of donations. The campus pantry offers a variety of grab-and-go meals, canned food items, protein bars, shakes, and more. There are also hygiene items available. Community college students “shop” for items once a month, using a point system rather than cash. “We so appreciate donations for our amazing students. In a media release, they come in and are just so glad to have these items available to them,” said Lisa Coffey, P&HCC’s college success program specialist and shared services distance learning program liaison. 199 students visited the pantry in the 2022-2023 school year. 📸 : P&HCC . . #mondaymotivation #patrick...
