My sister sent me this little book called “Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change” by anipemachodron and it has been resonating with me big time. The first chapter is called “The Fundamental Ambiguity of Being Human” and it’s all about how our lives are constantly in flux and our tendency is to be constantly scrambling for “solid ground.” “But rather than be disheartened by the ambiguity, the uncertainty of life, what if we accepted it and relaxed into it? What if we said ‘Yes, this is the way it is; this is what it means to be human’ and decided to sit down and enjoy the ride?” “Relaxed” is not a word I would use to describe myself lately. I haven’t been enjoying the ride very much either. But this concept of constant flux being inevitable is bringing me some sense of peace, so I’m gonna keep leaning into that.
