I never got a chance to meet Windham Rotunda, but had the pleasure of seeing his wrestling persona, Bray Wyatt, perform in person on many occasions. The first was during a special NXT event held in the pavilion of Talking Stick Resort Arena, the day before the 2013 Royal Rumble in Phoenix. I didn’t know anything about him, but was intrigued by his backwoods look and unique verbal style. We saw him and his Wyatt Family many times in the years afterwards, and were among his “Fireflies” at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas during a memorable segment with The Rock. We were ringside for his first World Championship victory at the 2017 Elimination Chamber (wish I could find those photos), and in attendance in Toronto for the debut of The Fiend in 2019. I’ll never forget the little girl sitting next to us, who started crying in terror at his new look, and had to be carried out of the arena by her father.
