"What are you?" It’s a question that artist Kip Fulbeck has heard since childhood. Growing up watching #StarTrek, Kip — whose mom is Chinese and whose dad is a white American — felt a pang of recognition when Spock talked about being half human and half Vulcan. As a mixed-race person he says: "I remember being a kid going, I get that." Kip traveled around the country to photograph other multiracial folks and let them answer the question “What are you?” in their own words. He checked in with them again, 15 years later to see if that changed.
