The gist: The Oakland City Council voted unanimously to decriminalize the adult use and possession of psychedelic plants like #magicmushrooms. (Denver voters in May approved a similar measure for people 21 and older.) They heard string of speakers testify that #psychedelics, such as #ayahuasca and #peyote, helped them overcome depression, drug addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder. Oakland's move would make the "investigation and arrest of individuals involved with the adult use of entheogenic plants on the federal Schedule 1 list be amongst the lowest priority for the city of Oakland."
