I wanted to write an honest post about how I felt last night, when streamys and blogilates honored me with a Creator Honors Award. Obviously, I was THRILLED and EXCITED! It’s always incredibly fulfilling to have my work recognized by an industry of my peers. But, the minute Cassey handed me that frozen rose-gold statuette, I was already starting to worry about the award ceremony—a room filled with people who I knew would rouse my imposter syndrome, however hard I tried to squash it. . As I mentioned to Cassey and Jess (sulheejessica) earlier today, I find it challenging to trust women, particularly other Asian women. I was raised to view them as competition, not friends, based on the premise that there aren’t enough statuettes for all of us. Which is what makes this honor from Cassey so especially powerful. .
