Been getting a lot of questions about how I light my talking head setup. Here’s how I have it rigged right now:
(Also, I’m always experimenting and switching things up w/ lenses, lights, angles, intensities, white balance, etc. so things may change from video to video)
Main Key Light: Aputure 300X – I love this light because of how quiet it is, has temperature and brightness adjustment as well as several different pre-programmed FX. I keep this at an angle, and generally just above or at eye-level since I wear a lot of caps, I don’t want my eyes hidden by a shadow. I have this light at around a 7% brightness and temp at 6000K.
Venetian Blinds Effect in Background – This is an Aputure 120D with an Aputure spotlight attachment. The spotlight comes with “Gobos” which you can insert into the light which cast different shadows. Let me know if you want a video on this light.
